Derrière la luette

From the bottom of the sink to inside the body, from pipes to organs, Anastasia Simonin and Kazuo Yagi Marsden’s sculptures replay mechanisms of drainage and sanitation, revealing what flows through us as much as what we reject. The work displaces familiar situations and recompose them into ambiguous ensembles, where materials meet and disrupt their identification.

Between humor, mild disgust and fascination, the work reveals what usually goes unnoticed and brings to light, behind the obviousness of everyday life, a world of streams and residues. These ordinary shapes, displaced and recomposed, then become interfaces, tipping points where things meet and filter each other.
