‘Comma Separated Values’ reflects on Clarkson’s personal experiences of office admin work, exploring the pressures of productivity and the fragmentation of personal identity within professional environments. Layered sculptural diagrams reference bureaucratic systems and everyday office processes.

Drawing on Sheffield’s post-industrial landscape, where former industrial sites are increasingly repurposed as business parks, the work highlights how capitalism reshapes both labour and space. In doing so, the work invites us to consider how the pursuit of economic efficiency is contributing to the growing uniformity of urban environments.

This newly commissioned work is part of a wider rehang of the Graves Gallery Collection ‘Display Place and Identity.’ The works in this display demonstrate the many ways in which artists have engaged with themes of place, inviting us to reflect on how our surroundings influence who we are and how we view the world.
