Low Ground Pressure

Identity often appears as something fixed: as a stable category, a clear sense of belonging, or a consistent narrative about one’s own self. The works in States in Transit offer a different perspective on this notion. They view identity not as a given state, but as a process: something that takes shape, shifts, breaks apart, and reassembles itself. The exhibition brings together three artistic practices that engage with transitions and instabilities in different ways. Through sculpture and painting, Len Bay, Anja Rausch, and Wei Zhu explore those moments in which seemingly stable forms, physical, social, or narrative, begin to falter.
